A drunken Briton has celebrated receiving his inheritance by trying to give it away to strangers at a Spanish airport, government-run news agency EFE has reported. The unidentified man, 59 years-old and dressed like a tramp, laughed as he started handing out a pile of 52,000 euros ($72,380) in travellers’ cheques and notes at Palma airport on the holiday island of Majorca before police stopped him.

The man, who had apparently just received the money as an inheritance and had just arrived on a flight from Manchester, was bundled onto a plane back to Britain by police.According to scientists people are happier when they spend their money on other people.

Giving to charity, or buying presents for friends and family, is the secret to contentment. In tests, those who gave money away were far happier than others who spent the same cash on holidays, cars and luxuries for themselves.
