TASMANIA has reminded the rest of world it is part of after it was left off posters for the blockbuster movie of the same name.Tourism Tasmania has produced movie-style posters similar to those used to promote Australia, but with a map of Tasmania and the words: “Tasmania, bigger than Australia”.They are part of a larger campaign to springboard off the release of the sweeping Australian epic starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman.Promoters of the Baz Luhrmann film had to reprint posters after the state was left off a small map of Australia in the film’s title. However, the Apple Isle is hoping its own campaign will put it back on the map.”We wanted to remind the rest of the world that Tasmania is still part of Australia and one of the country’s most appealing tourism destinations,” said Tasmanian Tourism Minister Michelle O’Bryrne.

Tourism Tasmania chief executive Felicia Mariani said the campaign would get into full swing next week.“What we have done is to come up with a cheeky way to make sure Tasmania is seen as a part of Australia,” said Ms Mariani.Fox’s marketing director Marc Wooldridge denied snubbing Tasmania and said the disappearance of the island from some promotional posters was just a printing illusion.

“It’s nothing sinister, just an illusion resulting from colours bleeding during printing,” he told the Sydney Morning Herald.“If you look at all the other (promotional) material, Tasmania is out and proud.”Mr Wooldridge said all the offending posters would be replaced.
